To keep the Earthborn Growers Market safe, honest, and helpful for everyone in the community, all Growers must follow these guidelines.
These guidelines work together with our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
1. Be Honest & Accurate
Your listings must be clear and truthful:
- Describe your produce accurately
- If you say something is “organic,” ensure it truly is
- Mention if produce is grown:
- In soil
- In containers
- Hydroponically
- Using chemicals (or not)
- Use real photos of your actual produce
- Update listings when stock is low or sold out
Honesty builds trust within our community.
2. Keep Listings Updated
Every listing expires after 2 months of no activity
Reminder emails are sent every 2 weeks, then daily for the last 3 days
Growers can “Bump Up” a listing from their stand if it’s still available
You MUST:
- Remove or edit listings when stock is sold out
- Refresh photos if produce changes (new harvest, new batch)
- Respond to reminder emails by either bumping up the expiry date or removing the listing
Buyers rely on accurate, up-to-date information.
3. Communication With Buyers
Growers agree to:
- Reply to enquiries politely and timeously
- Arrange safe pickup or delivery
- Communicate clearly about:
- Availability
- Pricing
- Payment methods
- Location and timing
No abusive or inappropriate communication is allowed.
4. Safety & Quality
Growers are responsible for:
- Ensuring all produce is safe and clean
- Proper harvesting, handling, and packaging
- Not selling spoiled, mouldy, harmful, or infested items
- Disclosing:
- Known allergens
- Strong herbs
- Any risks associated with remedies or medicinal herbs
We encourage Growers to follow good hygiene and food safety practices.
5. What You May List
Here are examples of what you may list:
- Fresh produce: veg, fruit, herbs, edible flowers
- Plants & growing: seedlings, seeds, cuttings, compost/vermicompost, worm tea, soil mixes
- Pantry & kitchen: preserves, dried herbs/teas/spice blends, honey, baked goods
- Body & home care: soaps, balms, creams, oils, salves, natural cleaning products (non-hazardous)
- Natural remedies: herbal blends, teas, tinctures/syrups only if compliant with the remedies rules (no medical claims, clear ingredients, safety notes)
6. What You May NOT List
To protect our community, every listing is reviewed before it goes live. If a listing is flagged, you’ll receive an email explaining what needs to be changed and suggested wording so you can quickly fix and resubmit. Some items are a hard no and will be rejected automatically.
Listings will be rejected (not allowed): illegal or controlled goods (including drugs and unlicensed medicines), weapons/firearms/ammunition, adult/explicit sexual content, hate/harassment or discriminatory content, threats or encouragement of violence, self-harm encouragement, scams/fraud, counterfeit goods, or anything intended to mislead or exploit buyers.
Listings may be flagged for changes: contact details or off-platform selling (phone numbers, WhatsApp, email addresses, social handles, external checkout links), medical/health “cure/treat/prevent” claims (especially for remedies/body-care) without an appropriate disclaimer, or missing key information such as ingredients, allergens, or safety cautions. Once you update the listing to comply, it can be approved and published.
We reserve the right to remove inappropriate listings.
7. Respect the Community
Growers must:
- Act respectfully
- Avoid spam or repeated posting
- Not abuse Earthborn.africa staff or visitors
- Not misuse visitor contact information
This is a community-first marketplace.
8. Social Media Promotion
If you opt-in, Earthborn.africa may share your listings on our:
- Facebook page
- Facebook group
We will always credit you and your produce stand.
9. Transparency About Remedies & Herbal Products
If you sell home remedies or herbal products, you MUST:
- Avoid making medical claims
- Advise buyers to consult a healthcare provider
- Clearly state ingredients or preparation methods
- Mention any strong herbs or known interactions
This keeps everyone safe.
10. Consequences of Violating Guidelines
We may:
- Remove listings
- Suspend your account
- Permanently ban your Grower profile
- Decline listings that pose a safety risk
We always aim to contact you first unless the content is dangerous or clearly against the rules.
